Hello

My name is Sean.  I am the current alternate resident representative on the Advisory Committee for West Broadway.  As your representative I was wondering what are your wishes and goals for the revitalization of W. Broadway.  As a renter in Seaside, I am concernered about an increase in rental rates and a decrease in avilable affordable housing as Broadway is reshaped.  What are your conserns?  I would encourage everyone to voice there opinions on this so that we may all help in the shaping of the specific plan being developed. 

If you have any questions about what takes place at the meeting and workshops, please ask and I will do my best to answer all questions.  If you wish to become involve in this project then come to Seasides’ birthday celebration and get involved in the many community workshops we will be holding.  Seaside Sparkles takes place Friday, October 12 at City Hall.  The address is 440 Harcourt Avenue.

I am really excited about this project. Seaside has so much potential and this project feels like a great first step towards becoming a real community. We’re not Carmel, we’re not PG, we’re not a gated “community"--we’re diverse, and I like it that way.

Wishes: Places where we can eat, shop, hang out, run into friends and get to know new ones. We need some good “third places” (please check out: http://www.cooltownstudios.com/ for more on that and a lot of other very interesting ideas, including ways other towns have solved the giant issue of affordable housing.) I don’t want to have to drive someplace else for things we should have here.

Goals: A sense of community. A unique, exciting, creative, diverse, inclusive, walkable place to live. Good design--not pretentious, just creative, fun and well thought out, with sustainability in mind.

Concerns: Ugly, exclusive, expensive, generic, pretentious, anonymous, poorly planned.
